Hans Florine ~ World’s Fastest Climber

Hans is a professional speaker.  He has spoke, climbed, and adventured in:

North & South America, Asia, India, Australia, South Africa, and Europe - so far….

Outdoor adventures:

-Hans holds numerous solo and team speed records on many of Yosemite's classic big wall routes. One of three humans to solo "The Nose" in a day. First and only team of two, (or any number), to have climbed El Cap three times in a day and Half Dome twice in a day. One of eight persons to have climbed The Nose of El Cap and The Regular Route on Half Dome in a day. One of two people to climb alone Half Dome and El Cap in a day. Only person to climb El Capitan twice in a day, solo. Guided first and only blind person ascent of El Cap.  2003 set the speed record on all the legal 14,000 ft peaks in California.  Ascended 20 of the classic rock and peak routes, from the "50 Classics of North America" book, in 20 days. Ascended fourteen of the California 14,000 ft peaks in under ten days. Hans has climbed over 60 routes of grade 5.13,(7C+), or higher, repeated one 5.14 and established one 5.14. Hans has also been over 21,500 ft on Acongauga, and over 17,000 feet on Shiveling.

Production of events:

Hans has delivered his message about speed and peak performance to groups like YPO, Nike ACG, Wachovia Securities, the American Alpine Club, the Boy Scouts of America, numerous universities, chambers of commerce, and more.  Hans has organized and ran seven local events, five ASCF national level climbing competitions, and three international Touchstone invitationals, 1992 through present. Have toured the States with: "Blonde Ambition", "Excalibur", "20 Classics in 20 Days", and "The Pacific Ceiling Tour" slide shows. In Australia and US toured with "Mr twig legs goes Alpine climbing, in South Africa with "20 Classics in 20 Days".Have given over 100 climbing clinics in US, Mexico, Australia, and South Africa. Hans has course set, emceed, and judged for events also.

BS Degree in Economics, focus in Production Operations and Human Resource Management. APICS, CPIM certified. Managed small businesses and 2 years yuppie life -POM. Executive Director of the American Sport Climbers Federation 93-97.

-USA National Difficulty Champion 1991, and Speed Climbing Champion 1989, 1991, 1992,1994, 2002

-World Champion Speed Climber 1991.

-2nd place in the ESPN 1995 Survival of the Fittest.

-98 Sony Playstation X-Treme Games Champion, Australia.

-1995, 96, and 97 X Games Speed Climbing Champion.

-Have won 29 speed climbing competitions, have competed in 145 climbing competitions.


Swim, run, bike, hike, kayak, scull, triathlon, inline skate, ultimate frisbee, snow-board, skate ski, down hill ski, back country ski, rock climb, ice climb, mountaineer, paraglide, surf-a little, and will try anything -probably.


Inspire and motivate others through organizing:  motivational programs/lectures, climbing competitions, clinics, and multi-media shows. Develop and promote the growth of climbing. Adventure with, and master, the art of "light and fast" on the rock and mountains. Exploring the "notion" that: Speed is power in Sport Climbing, Speed is safety(and success) in the mountains, and speed in life brings about a more fulfilled experience.
